A Vision for the Future of Wilkinsburg: A Community Listening Session
About this event
There is much conversation about the future of Wilkinsburg, and your voice deserves to be included.
Jasiri X, known for his artistic efforts to raise grassroots social awareness, will moderate two public meetings at Wilkinsburg’s Hosanna House this fall, focusing on the borough’s future. To increase more awareness of community perspective, the effort will be documented by the renowned Emmai Alaquiva, owner of the Emmy Award-Winning Agency, Ya Momz House, Inc.
In addition to giving residents and business owners the opportunity to communicate their hopes for Wilkinsburg’s future, the community influencers want to create more conversations around the on-the-ground realities in the borough.
“Our goal is to have an open conversation about what the people in Wilkinsburg want for their communities,” said Jasiri X, founder of 1Hood Media, whose mission is to build liberated communities through art, education and social justice.
Attend either on Tuesday October 19 or Thursday November 18 at 5:30 PM at the Wallace Event Center at Hosanna House (807 Wallace Ave). Tickets are FREE and attendance is limited to 75 people. The event also will be live-streamed on Facebook with an opportunity to ask questions from home.
